The Gotham Comedy foundation believes that wellness is a funny business!
The Gotham Comedy Foundation (GCF) has a mission to bring humor to those who need it, one laugh at a time.
GCF sends stand up comics to hospitals, nursing homes, senior centers and social service agencies at no cost to these community partners to bring humor to the sick, aged and lonely as part of its humor therapy program. GCF provides scholarships to New York public school students to attend workshops in stand up comedy and creative comedy writing. GCF supports research on the use of humor in health care. Contributions to the Gotham Comedy Foundation are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
Comics performing are part of our informal fan club, which we affectionately call “The Mighty Mirth Machine” comics who believe and support our mission. Many of our members have themselves overcome serious illnesses through laughter therapy.
